Trump to Nominate Eugene Scalia for Labor Secretary
On July 18, 2019, President Donald Trump announced his intention to nominate Eugene Scalia for the position of Labor Secretary.
Eugene Scalia, the son of late U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonin Scalia, is a longtime labor attorney. He also served as Solicitor for the Labor Department from 2002-2003.
Scalia, if confirmed by the Senate, will replace former Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta who left his post on July 19. In the interim, Deputy Secretary of Labor Patrick Pizella will serve as acting secretary of the Labor Department.
