EEOC Likely to Continue Collecting Compensation Data Past Deadline

by | September 30, 2019

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced on Friday, September 27th that it will continue to collect data for Component 2 of the EEO-1 Report (i.e. W-2 and hours worked) until it has reached a court mandated 72.7% response rate from covered employers. As of September 25th, the response rate stood at 39.7% so it is likely that the portal to submit Component 2 data will remain open beyond the September 30th deadline. It is important to note that covered employers should not consider this an extension. The September 30th deadline has not changed and filing Component 2 of the EEO-1 report must still be completed by that date. Employers can log in or register to file Component 2 of the EEO-1 Report by going to https://eeoccomp2.norc.org/Login.

EEOC Continues Campaign to Assist and Reach out to Covered Employers

In response to a high number of inquiries, EEOC has expanded its help desk hours to the following times (all times in Central Time):
  • Monday through Friday – 8:00 am to 8:00 pm
  • Saturday – 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
  • Sunday – 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm
It remains unclear if EEOC intends to continue these hours of operation beyond the September 30th deadline. Employers that wish to reach out to the help desk can do so by calling 877-324-6214 or emailing EEOCcompdata@norc.org. EEOC has reached out to a various covered employers including 37,000 organizations that had not contacted the help desk for Component 2, registered for access to the online portal, or submitted data. EEOC has also reached out to thousands of additional employers who have begun to but have not yet completed filing of Component 2.
