OFCCP Director Will Be Leaving the Agency
On Monday, February 3, 2020, the White House released a news post regarding the current Director of the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs, Craig Leen. The post stated that the President intends to appoint Mr. Leen to the position of Solicitor General for the Office of Personnel Management.
Mr. Leen has been at OFCCP since 2017, and was formally appointed as Director in December of 2018. Mr. Leen has brought innovation and openness to OFCCP during his tenure as Director. He has established four pillars for agency action: Certainty, Efficiency, Recognition, and Transparency. These four pillars have been evidenced in a variety of directives and new policies developed by the agency.
Mr. Leen has also brought an extensive focus on issues regarding individuals with disabilities to OFCCP. During his tenure, the agency has begun to conduct compliance reviews that solely focus on implementation of the regulations regarding disability.
We will continue to follow this situation to determine when Mr. Leen will be leaving his post at OFCCP, who his successor might be, and how this will potentially affect the agency..
