EEOC Provides Update on EEO-1 Pay Data Collection Portal, Helpdesk

by | June 5, 2019

On Monday, June 3, 2019, EEOC sent an update to EEO-1 filers that provided additional information regarding the portal EEOC will use to collect EEO-1 Component 2 data. They also provided information on the development of a helpdesk dedicated to answering filer’s questions on Component 2 submissions. EEOC expects this helpdesk will go live later this month.

Component 2 refers to the portion of the EEO-1 report that requires organizations meeting certain thresholds to submit information on pay and hours worked for their employees by race, gender, EEO-1 category, and salary band.

In the e-mail to filers, the EEOC stated it “expects a web-based portal for the collection of 2017 and 2018 Component 2 data will be active by mid-July 2019.” EEOC also stated it “will be notifying filers prior to the launch of the portal and providing FAQs and other materials to assist filers with the submission of Component 2 data.”

This message to filers was previewed in a status report from the EEOC to the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, which the Court ordered as part its decision to reinstate Component 2 of the EEO-1 report. The status report details specific steps the EEOC is taking to comply with the Court’s order, as well as timelines regarding the collection of Component 2 data.

Stay tuned to our blog for more EEO-1 updates as they become available.
